A letter of support from Uijin Jung, ThM ('18)

I graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary (CTS) last year, and I had a wonderful experience as an international student there thanks to the help of immigrant faculty members such as Dr. Kevin Park and Dr. John Azumah, the Office of International Programs, and the Center for Academic Literacy (CAL). If it weren't for their wholehearted support and care, I think I wouldn't have made it to studying as a PhD student in the U.S. now. They were sincere professors, staffs, and friends, always willing to help more than anyone else. Whenever I was stuck by a language barrier and something unfamiliar came up constantly, their encourgement made me move forward.

It seems that there are some conflict in the CTS community at this point. I am convinced that it is not normal in CTS because CTS has a long-standing history and tradition that they have served and welcomed International Students who are our brothers and sisters in Christ. I hope some rational alternatives soon arises which will soothe the concern of international students and scholars and eventually lead to reconciliation by way of sincere dialogue between CTS administration and CISA. I am glad to be one of supporter for CISA as well as CTS.
